The access server accepts remote connections from PAM users and automatically opens remote connections to target resources on behalf of privileged accounts.

To deploy the RDS role, you need a "clean" Windows Server in the domain:

  • No group policies related to remote access are applied
  • None of the RDS role components (RDCB, RDG, RDL, RDSH, RDVH, RDWA) are deployed

Deploying the Remote Desktop Services Role on a Single Server

  1. Start Server Manager, click Manage menu, click Add Roles and Features
  2. In the Installation Type step, select Remote Desktop Services installation
  3. In the Installation Type step, select Remote Desktop Services installation
  4. In the Deployment type step, select Standard deployment
  5. In the Deployment scenario step, select Session-based desktop deployment
  6. In RD Connection Broker, RD Web AccessRD Session Host steps, select the current server
  7. In the Confirmation step, check Restart the destination server automatically if required, click Deploy and wait for the server to restart

Deploy the Remote Desktop Services Role to Multiple Servers

  1. open Server Manager on the first server and add the required servers to the pool: on the Manage menu, click Add Servers, search, select the servers and wait for the add operation to complete. All required servers should be displayed in the All Servers section with the status Online

  3. Here, on the Manage menu, click Add Roles and Features
  4. In the Installation Type step, select Remote Desktop Services installation
  5. In the Deployment type step, select Standard deployment (Стандартное развертывание)
  6. In the Deployment scenario step, select Session-based desktop deployment (Развертывание рабочих столов на основе сеансов)
  7. In the  RD Connection Broker step, select the server on which the RD Connection Broker role will be deployed
  8. In the  RD Web Access step, select the server on which the RD Web Access role will be deployed
  9. In the  RD Session Host step, select the servers on which the RD Session Host role will be deployed
  10. In the Confirmation step, check Restart the destination server automatically if required click Deploy and wait for the server to restart
